Project Superintendent

MSI General is seeking an experienced commercial construction Project Superintendent to join our team for an industrial project in Salt Lake City, UT. We are one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management. We would like to find a qualified Superintendent to supervise day-to-day activities for this specific project, with continued employment beyond this one project. This position develops strategy and leads the project site activities to successful, on-time and in-budget completion of construction projects. Qualified candidates must have general knowledge of all aspects of constructing a building, including, but not limited to, site work, concrete, masonry, steel enclosure, finishes, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Additional requirements include industrial and process manufacturing equipment coordination and installation.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop & administer project schedules
  • Visit assigned job site(s) daily
  • Review & interpret drawings and submittals
  • Manage job site safety and cleanliness
  • Maintain copies of drawings and subcontractor submittals
  • Communicate with subcontractors, team members, owners, and building inspectors
  • Resolve all questions, concerns, or conflicts on plans or in the field promptly and with diligence
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices for completed work
  • Report on job status at the weekly company job progress meeting
  • Maintain close contact with the owner or owner’s representatives in the field
  • Issue Field Work Authorization Notices for non-contracted work
  • Attend project meetings, run regular and special subcontractor coordination meetings

 

Required Knowledge:

  • All aspects of constructing a building, including, but not limited to: site work, concrete, masonry, steel enclosure, finishes, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
  • Building codes
  • Safety rules and requirements Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook, Work and Excel
  • Smartsheet for project scheduling
  • Plan Grid

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of direct construction supervision management or 10-15 years in general trades including trade or general construction supervision experience
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • OSHA safety training – 10 hour course

Project Manager

MSI General is seeking a Project Manager to join our team! We are one of the first fully integrated DesignBuild construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.

The Project Manager assumes the responsibility for bringing a project to completion on time and in budget, balancing the customers and MSI General’s needs for a mutually successful project. This position ensures all team members, clients, subcontractors and consultants are kept informed and updated on job progress. The Project Manager works with team members, making adjustments as necessary and forecasting upcoming critical events.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all pre-construction services on assigned projects, including risk management, municipal approvals, creating and managing project schedules, and working with Estimating during the bidding & project buy-out period
  • Assist Project Superintendent with on-site coordination, long lead items and day-to-day project execution
  • Manage priorities & decision making matrix to prevent project delays
  • Timely execution of owner & subcontractor change orders and/or field changes
  • Attend project meetings and lead the core client meetings from pre-construction to post-construction
  • Actively involved in development of Project Superintendents
  • Proposal assistance and assembly, including to help prepare and edit bidding instructions, bid list, and qualify subcontractor bids
  • Project tracking for continued maintenance of project costs and subcontract and/or change order preparation and issuance
  • Assist Sales Department with budget assembly to qualify sales prospects
  • Prepare agenda, arrange and run weekly team meetings as required for projects
  • Attend job meetings, support Project Superintendents, prepare meeting agendas, draft and finalize meeting minutes when necessary, and follow up of action items with project team
  • Work with Sales Department to analyze all required items to start a project
  • Responsible for project close-out, including overseeing punch list completion, as-built package delivery and client follow-up

 

Required Knowledge:

  • General knowledge of all aspects of construction, including, but not limited to: site work, concrete, masonry, steel erection, finishes, and MEP’s
  • Understanding of safety rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • Understanding of project accounting and subcontracting

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or advanced training in construction-related Project Management through accredited sources
  • Successful experience as a Superintendent or Project Manager on multiple construction projects over 5 years
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage complex projects and work with multiple superintendents, subcontractors, and owners while maintaining profitability on projects
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to organize the many facets of a project
