Structural Engineer

We are seeking a Registered Structural Engineer to join our team! MSI General is one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 65 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating and construction management. The Registered Structural Engineer, a key component of our Design Team, assists in implementing overall project design, coordination, objectives, and concepts as they relate to the structural design of our building projects. This position requires a well-rounded structural design background.

 

Position Responsibilities:
  • Understand and be familiar with the DESIGNBUILD process
  • Produce conceptual and completed engineering concepts
  • Proficient in the design of multiple construction types
  • Understand building materials and accurately assess optimal solution
  • Work with Design Team to develop complete proposal and construction documents
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment
  • Organize and time-manage varying workloads

 

Position Requirements:
  • Proficient in the State of Wisconsin Codes and Local Codes
  • Current International Building Code (IBC)
  • Revit proficiency

 

Required and/or Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 years related structural engineering background
  • B.S. Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering (Required)
  • Completed PE Exam and hold an EIT Certificate
  • LEED AP (Preferred)

Project Executive

We are seeking a Project Executive to join our team! MSI General is one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 65 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating and construction management. The Project Executive generates new business by establishing and maintaining strategic relationships, including networks of current and past customers. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of commercial DESIGNBUILD construction within budget and time constraints. The Project Executive’s primary responsibility is to achieve given sales and revenue goals at given margins.

 

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with prospective clients utilizing various methods (e.g., cold calls, networking, referrals etc.)
  • Proactively contact and follow up with current and prospective customers to sell design/build construction services to achieve and/or exceed revenue and profitability goals
  • Use active listening and communication skills to uncover the needs and wants of the client; leading the sales process through to contract signing
  • Act as the liaison between the client and MSI General team to ensure constant flow of relevant information
  • Provide team leadership and effective decision making related to project timing, scope and budget
  • Communicate effectively to promote cooperation, build teams, and resolve conflicts
  • Use organizational skills in planning and prioritizing work

 

Position Requirements:
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of DESIGNBUILD construction, project costs/bidding, building codes, municipal requirements, sequencing of construction activities, negotiating, and basic building design
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and understand blueprints and construction documents

 

Required and/or Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, engineering or other related discipline(s) or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years working in a construction-related industry
  • 3-5 years successful sales experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced commercial construction Project Manager to join our team! MSI General is one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 65 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating and construction management. We would like to find a qualified individual to ensure all team members, clients, subcontractors and consultants are kept informed and updated on job progress. The Project Manager works with team members, making adjustments as necessary and forecasting upcoming critical events.

 

Position Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all pre-construction services on assigned projects, including risk management, municipal approvals, creating and managing project schedules, and working with Estimating during the bidding & project buy-out period
  • Assist Project Superintendent with on-site coordination, long lead items and day-to-day project execution
  • Manage priorities & decision-making matrix to prevent project delays
  • Timely execution of owner & subcontractor change orders and/or field changes
  • Attend project meetings and lead the core client meetings from pre-construction to post-construction
  • Work with Sales Department to analyze all required items to start a project
  • Track team duties, responsibilities and agreed to completion dates to ensure on-time delivery
  • Assist in developing the front-end schedules for accurate road map timeline
  • Duties include: emails, timely follow through, invoice approval, etc.\Responsible for project close-out, including overseeing punch list completion, as-built package delivery and client follow-up

 

Position Requirements:
  • General knowledge of all aspects of construction, including, but not limited to: site work, concrete, masonry, steel erection, finishes, and  MEP’s
  • Understanding of safety rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • Understanding of project accounting and subcontracting

 

Required and/or Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Construction Management, Engineering or advanced training in construction-related Project Management through accredited sources.
  • Successful experience as a Superintendent or Project Manager on multiple construction projects over 5 years – Design Build preferred.
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage complex projects and work with multiple superintendents, subcontractors, and owners while maintaining profitability on projects
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to organize the many facets of a project
  • Valid driver’s license

Project Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced commercial construction Project Superintendent to join our team! MSI General is one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 65 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating and construction management. We would like to find a qualified Superintendent to supervise day-to-day activities on projects. This position develops strategy and leads the project site activities to successful, on-time and in-budget completion of construction projects. Qualified candidates must have general knowledge of all aspects of constructing a building, including, but not limited to, site work, concrete, masonry, steel enclosure, finishes, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

 

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop & administer project schedules
  • Visit assigned job site(s) daily
  • Review & interpret drawings and submittals
  • Manage job site safety and cleanliness
  • Maintain copies of drawings and subcontractor submittals
  • Communicate with subcontractors, team members, owners, and building inspectors
  • Resolve all questions, concerns, or conflicts on plans or in the field promptly and with diligence
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices for completed work
  • Report on job status at the weekly company job progress meeting
  • Maintain close contact with the owner or owner’s representatives in the field
  • Issue Field Work Authorization Notices for non-contracted work
  • Attend project meetings, run regular and special subcontractor coordination meetings

 

Required Knowledge:
  • All aspects of constructing a building, including, but not limited to: site work, concrete, masonry, steel enclosure, finishes, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
  • Building codes
  • Safety rules and requirements
  • Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook, Work and Excel
  • Smartsheet for project scheduling

Required and/or Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7-10 years of direct construction supervision management or 10-15 years in general trades including trade or general construction supervision experience
  • Valid driver’s license
