The new visitor center includes a welcoming entrance, gift shop, restrooms, learning center, and chapel.
Sustainability features include a geothermal heating and cooling system, solar panels, a green roof, and a gray-water system.
Recycled and locally sourced materials, including Forest Stewardship Council-certified lumber, were used to complete the project.
The chapel features reclaimed stained-glass windows and a historic communion rail, blending history with conservation.
Catholic Ecology Center provides educational programming, retreats, stewardship projects, recreational outings and partnerships with schools and parishes.
