Working closely with Catholic Ecology Center leadership, we designed and built a facility that balances functionality, sustainability, and reverence for tradition. The addition includes a welcoming lobby and visitor entrance, gift shop, learning center, chapel, multipurpose room, and restrooms—spaces that support educational programming, retreats, stewardship projects, recreational outings, and partnerships with schools and parishes. Thoughtful space planning promotes smooth visitor flow while providing flexible environments for both daily use and special gatherings.
The DESIGNBUILD project integrated sustainable systems and materials from the outset to support long-term performance and environmental responsibility. Energy-efficient features include a geothermal heating and cooling system, solar panels, a green roof, and a gray-water system. Recycled and locally sourced materials, including Forest Stewardship Council-certified lumber, were incorporated throughout. Within the chapel, reclaimed stained-glass windows and a historic communion rail blend history with conservation, reinforcing the Center’s mission through purposeful, values-driven design.

Working with the great team at MSI General allowed our building project to run as smoothly as possible. They went the extra mile to ensure our building would serve our mission well into the future.
