MSI General is seeking an Architect to join our team! We are one of the first fully integrated design/build construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.  This position focuses a great deal of attention upon accurate results. Clear, concise communication to internal team and external clients is required. Orientation will be to accomplish goals through systems and controls, which will be guided with calculated care. Ideas will be worked out in a creative, thorough and accurate manner.

The Architect at MSI General is responsible for overall project design implementation, concepts and objectives.  This individual needs to work with an Architectural Designer to assist in completing a building that meets and/or exceeds the client’s needs/program.  The Architect also needs to develop a clear understanding of how the built environments affect the end users.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop complete proposal and construction documents
  • Prepare plan sets that include; site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, details sections, and other items as necessary to convey the design intent
  • Research municipal requirements including; zoning, setback, landscape, lighting, parking, easements, design standards, construction materials, allowable heights and area, signage and fire protection and alarms
  • Ability to participate in presentation to clients
  • Operation of MSI General’s current CAD program(s)
  • Graphic communication
  • Excellent communication skills, being a confident communicator in large and small groups
  • Ability to convey ideas in a variety of ways and settings
  • Competence in detailing
  • Ability to work in teams, while sometimes acting as the team leader
  • Ability to sketch on paper as well as a computer

Required Knowledge:

  • Current State of Wisconsin and local codes
  • Design/build process, Architecture/Design principles
  • Construction types and techniques
  • Building materials
  • Relationship between the design process and the construction process
  • Building systems – Structural, MEP, site analysis
  • Concept of value engineering from the initial design concept while still creating design excellence
  • Current drawing standards
  • MSI General’s current Master Specification requirements

Qualifications Required:

  • BA Architecture
  • 3-7 years experience

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Master of Architecture
  • 7-12 years experience
  • LEED AP or pursuing certification

Required Credentials/Certifications:

  • State of Wisconsin Registration as an Architect
  • Member American Institute of Architects
  • Participation in AIA activities to earn required 18 CEU’s per year

Project Superintendent

MSI General is seeking a experienced commercial construction Project Superintendent to join our team! We are one of the first fully integrated design/build construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.  We would like to find a qualified Project Superintendent to supervise day-to-day activities on commercial construction sites.  This position develops strategy and plans leading to successful, on-time and in-budget completion of construction projects.  Qualified candidates must have general knowledge of all aspects of constructing a building, including, but not limited to, site work, concrete, masonry, steel enclosure, finishes, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing.


  • Develop schedules
  • Visit assigned job sites daily
  • Review & interpret drawings and submittals
  • Manage job site safety and cleanliness
  • Maintain copies of drawings and subcontractor submittals
  • Communicate with subcontractors, team members, workers & owners
  • Handle all questions, concerns, or conflicts on the plans or in the field promptly
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices for completed work
  • Report on job status at the weekly company job progress meeting
  • Maintain close contact with the owner or owner’s representative in the field
  • Issue Field Work Authorization Notices for new work
  • Attend project meetings, run regular and special subcontractor coordination meetings


  • B.S. Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Or 7-10 years of construction supervision management

Project Manager

MSI General is seeking a commercial construction Project Manager to join our team! We are one of the first fully integrated Design/Build construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management. We are the only company on the Business Journal’s Book of Lists for both Top Architectural & Construction firms in 2017.

The Project Manager assumes the responsibility for bringing a project to completion on time and in budget, balancing the customers and MSI General’s needs for a mutually successful project. This position ensures all team members, owners, subcontractors and consultants are kept informed and updated on job progress. The Project Manager works with team members, making adjustments as necessary and forecasting upcoming critical events.

Basic Qualifications – Required:

  • B.S. degree in Construction Management, Engineering or advanced training for Project Management through accredited sources.
  • Successful experience as a Superintendent or Project Manager on multiple construction projects over 5-7 years
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage complex projects and work with multiple superintendents and owners while maintaining profitability on projects
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to organize the many facets of a project
  • Valid driver’s license

Basic Qualifications – Preferred:

  • OSHA 10 hour safety training
  • Advanced training in Project Management through accredited sources – a plus
  • AP LEED Certification

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all pre-construction services on assigned projects, including risk management, municipal approvals, creating and managing project schedules, and working with Estimating during the bidding & project buy-out period
  • Work with the superintendent on site coordination, long lead items and day-to-day project execution
  • Manage priorities & decision making matrix to prevent project delays
  • Timely execution of owner & subcontractor change orders and/or field changes
  • Attend project meetings, and run the core owner meetings from pre-construction to post-construction
  • Actively involved in development of Project Superintendents

Required Knowledge:

  • General knowledge of all aspects of construction a building, including, but not limited to: site work, concrete, masonry, steel enclosure, finishes, and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing
  • Understanding of safety rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • Understanding of project finance and subcontracting
  • Computer skills in key areas such as Excel spreadsheets, SureTrak, Work, Viewpoint, Outlook etc.
