Architectural Designer

MSI General is seeking a Architectural Designer to join our team! We are one of the first fully integrated design/build construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.  This position will be responsible for overall project design implementation, concepts and objectives.  The Architectural Designer needs to engage clients to collect data and synthesize information into a complete project design that meets and/or exceeds the client’s needs/program, while being the creative force within the team to assist the sales department in successful pursuits.  This individual will work with an Architect to develop a clear understanding of how the built environments affect the end users.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop complete concept and proposal documents
  • Ability to participate in presentations to clients
  • Operation of CAD program(s)
  • Excellent graphic communication
  • Assist in preparation of concept plan set that may include; site plans, floor plans, elevations, design sections and other items necessary to convey the design intent
  • Research municipal requirements including; zoning, setback, landscape, lighting, parking easements, design standards, construction materials, allowable heights and area, signage and fire protection and alarms
  • Knowledgeable in detailing to ensure appropriate design solutions
  • Ability to sketch on paper as well as computer

Required Knowledge:

  • Current State of Wisconsin and local codes
  • Design/build process, Architecture/Design principles
  • Construction types and techniques
  • Building materials
  • Building systems – structural, MEP, site analysis
  • Relationship between the design process and the construction process
  • Concept of value engineering from the initial design concept while still creating design excellence
  • Current drawing standards
  • MSI General’s current Master Specification requirements
  • Sketch up software

Qualifications:

  • BA Architecture
  • 1-2 years experience

Required Credentials/Certifications:

  • Pursuing registration and participating in IDP to acquire State of Wisconsin Registration

Architect

MSI General is seeking an Architect to join our team! We are one of the first fully integrated design/build construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.  This position focuses a great deal of attention upon accurate results. Clear, concise communication to internal team and external clients is required. Orientation will be to accomplish goals through systems and controls, which will be guided with calculated care. Ideas will be worked out in a creative, thorough and accurate manner.

The Architect at MSI General is responsible for overall project design implementation, concepts and objectives.  This individual needs to work with an Architectural Designer to assist in completing a building that meets and/or exceeds the client’s needs/program.  The Architect also needs to develop a clear understanding of how the built environments affect the end users.

  • Participation in AIA activities to earn required 18 CEU’s per year

Project Superintendent

MSI General is seeking a experienced commercial construction Project Superintendent to join our team! We are one of the first fully integrated design/build construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management. We would like to find a qualified Project Superintendent to supervise day-to-day activities on commercial construction sites. This position develops strategy and plans leading to successful, on-time and in-budget completion of construction projects. Qualified candidates must have general knowledge of all aspects of constructing a building, including, but not limited to, site work, concrete, masonry, steel enclosure, finishes, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop schedules
  • Visit assigned job sites daily
  • Review & interpret drawings and submittals
  • Manage job site safety and cleanliness
  • Maintain copies of drawings and subcontractor submittals
  • Communicate with subcontractors, team members, workers & owners
  • Handle all questions, concerns, or conflicts on the plans or in the field promptly
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices for completed work
  • Report on job status at the weekly company job progress meeting
  • Maintain close contact with the owner or owner’s representative in the field
  • Issue Field Work Authorization Notices for new work
  • Attend project meetings, run regular and special subcontractor coordination meetings

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Or 5-7 years of construction supervision management

Project Director – Commercial Construction Sales

MSI General is seeking a experienced commercial construction Project Director to join our team in the Select Projects Division! The focus is on small to medium interior renovations, build-outs and exterior remodeling. We are one of the first fully integrated design/build construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 60 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management. We would like to find a sales driven associate with integrity to manage and develop client projects.

Base salary plus commission on sales, profit sharing, fleet car, phone allowance. Generous employee benefit package includes holiday/vacation/sick pay.

Responsibilities:

  • Access over the phone or in person, client needs and information
  • Set up site visit to access project, field measure and/or risk assessment with Architect/field superintendent
  • Write a detailed scope of work that provides client solutions
  • Send out and track bid requests
  • Qualify bids and prepare cost estimates
  • Write/edit proposals
  • Meet with client and review proposal/plans
  • Revise proposal and plans as needed
  • Discuss timeline and project duration
  • Select subcontractors and issue subcontracts
  • Review finish selection for accuracy
  • Request and assist expeditor to apply for local/state permit
  • Attend pre-start subcontractor meeting at start of job
  • Maintain consistent client contact during duration of project
  • Present owner with any Owner Change Orders
  • Issue any subcontractor invoicing on Viewpoint
  • Punch list walk through with superintendent and client
  • It is expected that the project director develop a network/client base by joining associations, chambers, and organizations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; degree in Architecture, Business, Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in construction, specifically in sales
  • Thorough knowledge of sales process, the design process, and construction process
