Home » Camp Long Lake Center for Scouting
We partnered with the Potawatomi Council to design and deliver a new activity and training center at Camp Long Lake that responds to the evolving needs of the Scouting community. The vision for this facility began in early 2010, and over several years, we collaborated through numerous design iterations while navigating delays driven by site dynamics, program refinements, and funding influences. MSI General led strategic planning, value engineering, and stakeholder coordination to ensure the final design honored the Council’s goals for resiliency, flexibility, and long-term community impact.
The completed facility was designed to support year-round programming, training, and community gatherings. Throughout preconstruction, we worked closely with leadership to align program requirements for a wide range of skill-building and recreational spaces, including an indoor archery range, welding lab, automotive bay, and woodworking shop that also functions as a storm shelter. The second floor features a large multipurpose room with an adjacent kitchen and direct access to an expansive deck, creating flexible space for both structured activities and informal gatherings.
Through our collaborative DESIGNBUILD process, we integrated early planning with cost control and schedule certainty to deliver a facility that strengthens Camp Long Lake’s mission. Bunk rooms, restrooms, and showers provide comfortable accommodations for camp staff, while the adaptable training and event spaces enhance the camp’s ability to host programs, workshops, and community events in support of Scouting for years to come.
