We partnered with Sendik’s Food Market to bring their legacy full circle by constructing a new two-story store to replace the Whitefish Bay location originally built in 1949. As a valued repeat client celebrating 100 years in business, this milestone project reflects both the brand’s deep roots in the community and its continued evolution for the next century.
The project required the demolition of two existing buildings while keeping the active store fully operational throughout construction, an intricate undertaking within a dense, highly visible neighborhood setting. Strategic phasing, detailed logistics planning, and close coordination with the architect and ownership team were essential to maintaining safe customer access and uninterrupted business operations. By carefully sequencing demolition and new construction activities, we maintained business continuity while prioritizing safety, cost control, and schedule certainty.
The new two-story store reimagines the traditional grocery experience while strengthening operational efficiency. The first floor houses the primary grocery operations, designed to enhance circulation and elevate the customer experience. The second level expands the store’s community presence with additional retail space, a bar and gathering area, and dedicated employee workspaces and storage. The completed project honors a century of service while delivering a modern flagship built to support Sendik’s continued leadership in the Whitefish Bay community.
