Project Estimator
We are seeking a Project Estimator to join our team. MSI General is one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 65 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.
The Project Estimator collaborates closely with our sales, design, construction, finance, and administrative teams to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates that reflect our Single Source Responsibility™ approach. This key role is responsible for managing multiple projects and coordinating the subcontractor bidding process to support successful project execution. With a strong attention to detail and advanced organizational skills, the Project Estimator negotiates project costs by soliciting, receiving, analyzing, and qualifying project bids from our subcontractors. This position requires knowledge of the construction trades, architecture, building codes, safety requirements, and varying construction costs.
This is a full-time, in-office (not remote) position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee multiple projects at one time and retain detailed information regarding contracts, budget amounts, fee percentages, project requirements, general conditions, and scheduling
- Review project proposals and construction drawings
- Prepare budget and cost estimates and maintain project costs
- Implement value engineering through project scope, sequencing, and design evaluation
- Create bid instructions, select bidders, and execute the subcontractor bid process
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of construction management experience or a construction trade
- A degree and/or certification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
- Adept at reading blueprints and visualizing building projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
- DESIGNBUILD, negotiated, conceptual, and/or hard-bid commercial construction estimating experience in southeast Wisconsin
- Current awareness of technology trends and business procedures
Additional Responsibilities:
- Understand and implement owner and subcontractor change orders
- Evaluate and qualify subcontractor proposals
- Negotiate buyouts and extras with subcontractors
- Use appropriate sources to gather data, analyze data, ask questions when necessary, and troubleshoot to determine feasible construction solutions
- Meet project deadlines and adapt easily to changing demands
- Participate in weekly Estimating Team meetings and provide backup support
- Participate in quarterly performance conversations with the Director of Preconstruction

Project Manager
We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team. MSI General is one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 65 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.
The Project Manager oversees commercial construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves coordinating schedules, managing project budgets, leading communication among all stakeholders, and supporting both preconstruction and field operations. The Project Manager plays a critical role in decision-making, problem-solving, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the DESIGNBUILD process.
This is a full-time, in-office (not remote) position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project priorities and make pivotal, key decisions to ensure every project is completed on time and within budget
- Work with the Project Superintendent on jobsite coordination and day-to-day project execution
- Conduct weekly team meetings by preparing meeting agendas, drafting, and finalizing meeting minutes, and following up on action items
- Assist in preparing and assembling project proposals and budgets
- Execute owner and subcontractor change orders and FWANs
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of construction management experience or a construction trade, or 10+ years in the construction trades
- A degree and/or certification in construction management or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
- 15+ years of experience in the construction industry, including DESIGNBUILD experience
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to comprehend and retain highly detailed information
- Ability to adapt easily to changes and demands
- Ability to manage complex projects while working with multiple superintendents, clients, subcontractors, and inspectors
- Valid driver’s license
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Estimating Team on project preconstruction services, including risk management, municipal approvals, and scheduling
- Collaborate with the Sales Team to analyze all required items to start a project
- Assist in developing the front-end schedules
- Track team responsibilities and anticipated completion dates
- Perform daily tasks of answering emails and approving invoices
- Perform project close-out tasks, including punch list completion, as-built package delivery, and client follow-up
- Participate in the professional development of our Project Superintendents
- Participate in quarterly performance conversations with the Director of Construction

Project Superintendent
We are seeking a Project Superintendent to join our team. MSI General is one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 65 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.
As the eyes, ears and voice of MSI General on our construction jobsites, the Project Superintendent is responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day production. Strategic planning and effective communication with our team members, inspectors, subcontractors and clients are paramount to completing our projects safely, on time and within budget.
This is a full-time, in-office (not remote) position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and administer project schedules
- Visit assigned job sites daily and manage safety, cleanliness, quality, and expected project progress
- Review, interpret, maintain, and communicate drawings and subcontractor submittals
- Resolve questions, concerns, or conflicts on plans or in the field promptly with diligence
- Attend project meetings and run regular/special subcontractor coordination meetings
Required Qualifications:
- Continued Education in Construction Management or a construction trade
- At least 5 years of direct construction supervision management experience, or at least 10 years in the construction trades
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- OSHA safety training (30-hour course)
- 15+ years of experience in the construction industry
Additional Requirements:
- Broad understanding of all aspects of constructing a building: site work, concrete, masonry, steel enclosure, finishes, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
- Thorough awareness of building codes, safety rules and regulations
- Experience using Outlook, Word and Excel, Smartsheet and Autodesk Build
- Ability to walk a construction site and climb a ladder, capable of accessing all construction areas and tolerating adverse weather conditions
- Ability to anticipate unforeseen issues, develop alternative plans, coordinate important details, adjust priorities, and delegate as needed
- Ability to interact and communicate with others respectfully and professionally
- Ability to accept new duties, responsibilities, and other assignments readily
- Desire to follow through effectively by turning concepts into actions
- Good vision and driving skills

Additional Responsibilities:
- Report on current job statuses at our weekly company Job Progress meetings
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices for completed work
- Maintain close contact with the owner and/or owners’ reps in the field
- Issue Field Work Authorization Notices (FWANs) for non-contracted work
- Prepare and distribute weekly meeting minutes and end-of-week updates
- Participate in quarterly performance conversations with the Director of Construction

Architect
We are seeking an Architect to join our team. MSI General is one of the first fully integrated DESIGNBUILD construction firms in Wisconsin, with over 65 years of continuous profitability delivering excellence in design, estimating, and construction management.
Clear communications with our Design, Estimating, and Construction teams, and with our clients, is essential to achieve project goals through our proven, unique DESIGNBUILD process. The Architect implements creative solutions with expertise, precision, and a thorough understanding of how a built environment affects its end users.
This is a full-time, in-office (not remote) position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and update construction documents and drawing details: check-sets, shop, and as-builts
- Create and present plan sets, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, building sections details, and other items as necessary to convey design intentions
- Research current municipal requirements, including zoning, setback, landscape, lighting, parking, easements, design standards, construction materials, allowable heights and area, signage, fire protection and alarms
- Collaborate with our team members and our clients from project start to completion
- Visit project jobsites to ensure that construction adheres to architectural plans
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in construction and/or architecture
- Member of the American Institute of Architects
- State of Wisconsin Registration as an Architect
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office
